1. Location: Vietnam One Health University Network - National Coordinating Office (VOHUN-NCO). Room A503 Building A, Hanoi University of Public Health (HUPH).

4. Background:

Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN) is a part of the South East Asia One Health University network (SEAOHUN) and was established in 2011 with the support of USAID. VOHUN has 25 universities and 31 faculties in Vietnam, including faculty of medicine, veterinary medicine, public health and nursing. The National Coordinating Office, connecting the faculties and universities, is located in Hanoi University of Public Health. The network coordinates other universities, institutions and NGOs to contribute to promoting One Health for humans, animals, environment, food technology and biochemistry. Under the One Health Workforce – Next Generation project (2019 – 2024), there are three main objectives: One Health training and empowerment; One Health Workforce assessment and tracking; and Organizational Sustainability. This project is supported by USAID through a consortium between various partners in USA, with leading by University of California Davis and SEAOHUN.

VOHUN’s goal is to help develop Vietnam’s capacity to implement a One Health approach through training and research at member universities in order to contribute to the development of a new One Health community.

VOHUN’s objectives:

• Assess and define the One Health Workforce through planning and policy communication with Government counterparts.
• Educate and train student’s to be the One Health Workforce in the future (Pre-service)
• Educate and train staff and specialists from government agencies, the current One Health Workforce (In-service)
• Develop and promote the capacity of university staff and researchers to train the current and future One Health Workforce
• Develop VOHUN to become a sustainable institution for long term development of Vietnam’s One Health Workforce

5. Responsibilities:

• Ensures planning and design of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach geared towards supporting VOHUN’s partnership-building:

• Planning and elaboration of communications needs assessments for VOHUN.
• Well-developed communications and outreach strategy based on the VOHUN communications strategy.

• Manages the writing, development, design, production and dissemination of diverse publications and news releases:

• Coordination and management of all VOHUN publication activities, including content management, editing, norms for publishing, design, liaison with printers and other suppliers to oversee production and supervision of publications dissemination.
• Editing, publication and dissemination of materials drafted by other universities in the network.

• Maintain VOHUN website and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) such as daily monitoring, posting and content development.
• Assist in organizing and generating public support for special events and campaigns to promote strategic conservation goals.
• Report to the Program Manager and Project Coordinator on a regular basis.

6. Requirements

• Preferably Master’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, public relations, social sciences, international relations, or related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in communications at the national or international level, including experience in media relations.
• Previous work experience with similar projects, in particular with international agencies, is strongly recommended.
• Fluency in English. both oral and written, are required.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office package, Internet).
• Self-starting, independent and responsible personality.
• Knowledge of change management and institutions at national and local levels would be an advantage.

8. Duty station: Hanoi, with possible travel within or outside Vietnam

9. Supervision: Communication officer will be supervised by the Project Manager and Project Coordinator.
