Dr. Pham Duc Phuc - Coordinator
Dr. Pham Duc Phuc holds a Medical Degree from Hanoi Medical University (1995) and a Master of International Health from the University of Copenhagen (2003). He got his Ph.D. (December 2011) from the Institute of Public Health and Tropical Medicine University of Basel Switzerland, where he focused on the use of wastewater and manure in agriculture in Vietnam as well as its health risks and environmental impacts. He joined the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) in 2000 as a researcher in Health, Water, Sanitation, and Environment. Dr. Phuc has participated in many research projects on health risks related to water and sanitation, especially infectious diseases. In 2008, he joined the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH, Basel) as a Ph.D. student in Epidemiology, Microbiology, and Environmental Hygiene in the NCCR North-South program.
In early 2012, he joined the Hanoi University of Public Health (HUPH) in Vietnam as a lecturer and researcher, where he conducted research in collaboration with staff and students (Ph. MSc) of HUPH. He has been developing and participating in various initiatives with national and international sponsors to create funding for research and training in health risk assessment on water, environmental sanitation and food safety. Thus, he is one of the founders of the Center for Public Health and Ecosystem Research (CENPHER) at HUPH. He is the coordinator of the Vietnam One Health University Network (VOHUN).
Dr. Dinh Xuan Tung - Program Manager
Dr. Dinh Xuan Tung has more than 30 years of extensive experience in the agricultural sector. Currently, he serves as the program manager for the One Health Workforce-Next Generation project, funded by USAID. Dr. Tung earned his Ph.D. in Food Economics from Copenhagen University, a master’s degree in Natural Resource Management from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of National and World Economy, Bulgaria.
Notably, Dr. Tung assumed the position of Head of the Department of Economics, Environment, and Livestock Systems at the National Institute of Animal Husbandry. Between 2007 and 2011, he played a role as the coordinator of the Asian Partnership on Emerging Infectious Diseases Research (APEIR). Subsequently, from 2012 to 2016, he took on the role of Co-Coordinator for the Field Building Leadership Initiative Advancing Ecohealth in Southeast Asia (FBLI). From 2016 to 2020, he contributed as a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) consultant for the Vietnam Sustainable Agriculture Transformation Project (VnSAT) funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
