Quy Nhon University and One Health approach

With the aim of strengthening One Health Workforce, VOHUN always finding new members in different disciplines. On 22nd June, 2020, Dr. Phuc, Duc Pham – VOHUN coordinator had a chance to work with representatives from Quy Nhon University. Attending the meeting was Assoc. Prof. Do Ngoc My – Rector of Quy Nhon University, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Tien Trung – Head of the Department of Research Affairs and International Relations and Nguyen Le Tuan – Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

Quy Nhon University has been offering 20 postgraduate programs, consisting of 17 masters and 3 doctoral ones with more than 1,000 graduate students. In addition, the University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and Vietnamese language training for hundreds of Laotian students from some provinces such as Attapeu, Champasak, Salavan, and Sekon. Quy Nhon University has become a prestigious training institution.

Dr. Pham Duc Phuc introduced the One Health approach and the roles of universities in developing One Health workforce in the Region and Vietnam, including shared experiences of how Vietnamese universities developed and applied One Health curriculum into their universities and faculties. He also presented the key achievements of VOHUN todate and the ways forward of the One Health Workforce Next Generation project, 2019-2024.

Hope that Quy Nhon University could become a VOHUN member university in the near future.
